Florida State offers Dupre

Malachi Dupre has seven total scholarship offers after receiving his latest this week (Florida State). LSU, Ole Miss, Colorado, Southern Miss, Tulane and Cincinnati were the first six programs on Dupre's offer sheet. Do any schools stand out for the John Curtis Christian 2014 wide receiver?

Malachi Dupre nabbed offers last week from LSU and Cincinnati, and he knew that Florida State might be next.

"Our wide receivers coach, Matt Curtis, had been telling me that Florida State was trying to get in contact," Dupre said. "When I heard about the offer, I was laying down at the hotel in Los Angeles. I was in California for AAU basketball. My teammates went on to Las Vegas, but I had to get back home. I've been thinking about football every day. I just flew in from San Diego.

"I haven't talked with the Florida State coaches yet. I know the wide receivers coach and the strength and conditioning coach (John Curtis product Vic Viloria) want to talk to me about the offer. I was excited about Florida State because they have a rich tradition. It's a really good football program."

According to Dupre, no schools stand out, although he's duly pleased with last week's LSU camp offer.

"That's probably the offer I'm most excited about," he said. "I love LSU. I don't have any favorites or a top five. I'm interested in every school that has offered me. I'm interested in any school that's interested in me.

"Florida is recruiting me. I was supposed to go to their camp tomorrow, but I'm not going to be able to make it. I've just been gone too long. I've been on the road a lot."

John Curtis has more than two dozen college prospects on its fall roster. Which Curtis player would Dupre pick as a college teammate?

"Duke Riley," he replied. "Duke (senior linebacker) pushes you hard and he's a leader by example. We talk all the time about playing together in college."

Ole Miss extended early offers to both Riley and Dupre. The Rebels also are pursuing '14 CB Terrence Alexander from John Curtis. Tulane and Ole Miss have offered Alexander.

Dupre displayed amazing talent last week in Baton Rouge. He earned an LSU offer by snagging numerous difficult passes against stiff competition from quality cornerbacks. Dupre's 41-inch vertical impressed head coach Les Miles.
