"I committed to LSU today," said Voorhies in his first public comments. "We came down to LSU today and we got to see the campus and everything.
"I got to see the dorms, all of the football facilities and a couple of classrooms.
"The more I saw the more I liked."
At the conclusion of the guided tour, Voorhies and his parents were able to get some face time with Coach Les Miles.
"Coach Miles was telling me that they were offering me a full ride and that he wanted me to be a Tiger," said Voorhies. "I told him that I was ready to commit.
"By the look on his face, he looked kind of surprised. I don't think he thought I was going to make my decision this early."
The Woodville, Mississippi native reports that the Tigers have been high on his list from the beginning.
"LSU is close to home and really it's where I always wanted to go," said Voorhies. "Coach Miles said that they wanted me, so I didn't see any reason to wait.
"My parents are happy with my decision and they will be able to come see me play since it's so close to home.
"They are bringing me in as an athlete, so I could be a reciever or a defensive back.
"It doesn't really matter to me. I just want to be able to get on the field and help the team."
Voorhies is the third verbal commitment for the Tigers towards the 2014 signing class.
