Florida just picked up a commitment from Chris Thompson (Gainesville, Fla.). He's a local wide receiver prospect that really showed out at their Friday Night Lights camp three days ago. It was his third FNL camp and the third time was the charm for Thompson, as he picked up his offer earlier today.
Thompson, 5-foot-11 and 170-pounds, is a receiver that runs very well. He can get behind a secondary with his speed or make defenders miss with his quickness. He can go up and get the ball and has very good leaping ability and body control. Perhaps his strongest attribute is his ability to separate from defenders, especially coming out of his breaks. This kid really has a burst and can catch the football.
This is a big play receiver who's likely destined to play in the slot because he lacks ideal size to play on the outside. He was hands down one of the most impressive players last Friday night in the Swamp.
