Chris Thompson Makes 21 for UF

Local standout Chris Thompson was informed of great news moments ago from the head coach of the University of Florida. Will Muschamp extended the speedy wide out a scholarship offer and the Gainesville (FL) standout wide receiver accepted his invitation to join the Gator Nation.

Local standout wide receiver is from Gainesville (FL) Gainesville high school and checks in at 6'0 and 160-pounds with blistering 4.37 speed. Earlier today Chris Thompson informed the Florida coaches of his intentions.

"When I came in today they told me I had the offer and I already had my mind made up before I came here that I wanted to be a part of Florida so I am a Gator. I feel good right now. I feel great. I play fast and I get open and I am going to catch the ball. My mom actually came up with me today to the office and she sat in the office and talked to coach Muschamp. She is real happy right now that I am a Gator."

My Take:

I really like this pick up for both sides. The Gators were looking for a fourth wide out that can bring multiple elements to the offense. He has the speed that coach Muschamp and Pease are looking for and has not been afraid to compete. Thompson is ideal on reverses, end a rounds and can stretch the field vertically. I like the way Thompson moves with the ball. He has good vision, cutting ability and will not shy away from contact. Chris Thompson is a competitor and earned the offer from the Florida coaching staff at the summer camp and again at Friday Night Lights. He is a really good kid on and off the field and will fit right in with the character of the rest of the 2013 class as a hard working player and person.
