Gainesville's Keith Kelsey, a standout linebacker prospect that recorded164 tackles, four interceptions and forced two fumbles has been training hard this summer and is gearing up for training camp.
"Things have been going really good, I've just been working out and getting ready for camp next week, " said Kelsey. "I'm just looking forward to putting the pads on, and I can't wait, it's what I've been working for all summer."
The 3-star prospect is rated the 49th best middle linebacker by Scout, and is currently up to 10 offers, including South Florida, Louisville, Duke, Iowa State, Temple, Purdue, Marshall, Utah and UCF. He also reports interest from Florida and South Carolina.
Kelsey says he talks the most with UF, USF, and Louisville, and even though he doesn't name a favorite has a few that stick out.
"I'm pretty open in the process" said Kelsey. "But I do like Louisville, USF, Florida, and South Carolina."
Kelsey has offers from USF and Louisville, but not ones from the Gators or South Carolina, and says a little about each of the schools he likes.
Louisville - I like the staff and have known the coach Charlie Strong for a long time.
South Carolina - I like the staff and coach Spurrier; he used to coach my dad, so they're up there.
Florida – I've always liked UF, my dad went there, and they're close.
The 6-foot-2, 215 pound linebacker says he's been in recent contact with USF defensive coordinator and linebacker Coach Chris Cosh.
"He said for me to keep working hard and do my thing," said Kelsey. "He said he likes how I play and after watching my film, I'd be a great fit and would love for me to be a Bull."
His former teammate Chris Bivins, who's a true freshman at South Florida and enrolled this past spring, tells Kelsey good things.
"We talk a lot and he says great things about the program," said Kelsey. "He just loves it there, and says the coaches are great, and likes everything about it."
Kelsey has been to USF many times and said he likes the feel of the school.
"I really like the campus and the facilities are just great," said Kelsey. "It's just a good place to be around and has a good atmosphere."
As to when he'll decide what school he's going to, Kelsey said he's in no rush
"I don't know when I'll make my choice," said Kelsey. "I'm just doing my thing and not trying to make a decision. I'm more concerned with my team. That's my main focus. We got a chance to win it all this year."
The Gainesville linebacker prospect says he plans on taking his official visits first, and does know two that he's definitely going to take.
"Yeah I know I'm going to take official visits to USF and Louisville, so far," said Kelsey. "The rest I'm still open."
