Dawson Enjoys FNL

After picking up an offer from the Gators at camp in June, Duke Dawson has been one of the priority targets for Florida in the 2014 class. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound defensive back was in Gainesville for Friday Night Lights and had a good time working with the coaches. Get the latest on Dawson's recruitment right here.

Duke Dawson said working out on the field at the Swamp was a great experience, and the Florida coaches made it clear they want him to be a part of the 2014 class.

"I liked everything, how we did different drills and stuff like that. (The coaches) showed me new things," Dawson said.

"They were saying the same things, ‘We want to make you a Gator one day. Do you see yourself playing on this field?' I told them, ‘Probably one day.'"

There's been some talk swirling about the Dixie County High School (Cross City, FL) athlete committing soon, but he insists he'll wait.

"I'm going to do it after my junior year," he said.

Dawson has offers from both Florida and Florida State, and he says the Seminoles are "a little bit" in the mix as well. He's been a fan of both the Gators and the Seminoles at different times in his life, and picked up offers from both schools at camps this summer.

Now, Dawson turns his attention fully to his junior season.

"(I'm) just getting ready for fall, I'm not visiting any more schools."
