Utah HS Tour: Part 2

Recruiting news and notes from stops at Alta HS, Bingham HS and Brighton HS during day two in Salt Lake City...

Alta HS
The trip to Alta was a short one, just speaking with recent Utah commit Harrison Handley. Here is the full story on his commitment (video interview): Handley Talks Utah

Bingham HS
Bingham is just as loaded as ever. I was impressed with the talent of the coaching staff and how well practice was run. Little time was wasted and the fact that players usually play on just one side of the ball gave practice a college feel.

I spoke with DT Lowell Lotulelei, WR Hayden Weichers (BYU commit), OL Keegan Hicks (BYU commit), DE Durrant Miles (BSU commit), WR Kalan Cantwell, LB Drake Miller, K Jaron Maxfield, DB Koa Wilson and 2014 TE Dalton Schultz.

Stay tuned this week for interviews with all of the above.

Brighton HS
Spoke with LB Uaea Masina (Utah commit), DB Brady McCloyn, LB Kekoa Kane, 2014 OL Jackson Barton (Utah) and 2014 LB Isaiah Kaufusi.

I have seen Masina before, so I came away most impressed with the two juniors. Barton is massive and a prototypical tackle. He already holds offers from Utah, Michigan and Utah State. His commitment to Utah might be the only thing that stops him from getting any offer he wants. Kaufusi also impressed me, he is incredibly explosive and will be a truly special player if he can fill out his frame.

That is it for this trip to Utah. Even though I was able to hit five high schools and get over 25 interviews with prospects, it barely scratches the surface of the talent in the state. Stay tuned for interviews over the course of the next week and hopefully a trip or two back to Utah this fall.
