Having recently extended several 2014 offers, Mack Brown and Co. get their first bite Thursday. Lorenzo Joe, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete out of Abilene Cooper, secures the first spot in the University of Texas' 2014 class.
"I committed to Texas!" exclaimed Lorenzo Joe via text Thursday afternoon, selecting UT over his first and only other offer of Texas Tech.
His enthusiasm comes as no surprise, as the home state power has always been a favorite of his.
'Lo Joe', who starred at receiver last season for Cooper, will take over at quarterback this year, filling the shoes of former gunslinger Clayton Nicholas (now at Texas Tech).
Joe noted the Longhorns offered him as an athlete, and are liking him at receiver.
He confirms he is solid to his commitment, and will now turn his attention to his senior season.
And on recruiting efforts.
With offers extended to 18 fellow '14 stars (some being Jamal Adams, Demetrius Knox, Ed Paris, Nick Watkins, Tony Brown, Edwin Freeman, and Daniel Gresham), Joe will work to get all on board.
