4-star CB Moore Talks Trimmed List

Central High East Campus (Fresno, Calif.) four-star cornerback L.J. Moore trimmed his list this week and he spoke to FOXSportsNEXT about those six schools, as well as a seventh still under consideration. He also gave tentative plans for an announcement date.

It wasn't easy for Central High East Campus (Fresno, Calif.) four-star cornerback L.J. Moore to get to a top six, but he felt he needed to so he can meet his goal of a Nov. 26 decision.

Moore went to Twitter to release his schools Wednesday, tweeting an order of:

1. Notre Dame
3. California
4. Oregon State
5. Arizona State/Washington

During an interview with FOXSportsNEXT, Moore added an official visit to Oklahoma remains on his schedule, but the configuration of the list is also a loose translation into how Moore sees each school.

"Nos. 1 and 2 are definitely interchangeable," the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Moore said. "I think the third and fourth are probably interchangeable, and then the tie with fifth."

Moore has official visits set to Notre Dame (Sept. 22) and Cal (Oct. 6), and added his visit to Oklahoma (Oct. 26) was still on.

"If I set up all my officials accordingly, I would commit at my last home game," Moore said. "It was real tough (trimming his list). A lot of schools had interest in me and I had interest in a lot of schools, but I want to be ready to make a decision coming up at the end of this football season, so we'll see what happens."

Moore said the plan is to announce on Senior Night, which is Nov. 26 against Clovis West, and he broke down each school on his list:

Notre Dame: "Notre Dame is a great, prestigious school with great history. I get along with the coaches real well. (Assistant coach Mike) Dembrock and I are forming a great relationship. Their fan base is great."

UCLA: "The location is great. The weather and things like that (are very good). It's close to where my family could come see me play. And the same thing (as Notre Dame), I'm forming a great relationship with the coaches."

Cal: "Cal is another one with a great location, a great coaching staff. I feel like I fit in real good with that defense also. And they also say they can do more things with me on the defensive side of the ball. They say I can move back to safety, play corner or be a nickel man."

Oregon State: "(Assistant) coach (Rod) Perry is real good. I liked them a lot when I went out to the Oregon State camp. He's from Fresno, which is a plus, and I feel like we have a good connection. That's another thing I like about them."

Arizona State: "Arizona State will always have a spot in my heart because that's where my dad (Lawrence) played. They have a new coaching staff so I can see what they do there."

Washington: "I loved it when I went up there. Their campus is beautiful. I liked coach Hayward and I feel like I would fit in that defense pretty well."

Moore also cleared up why the Sooners didn't make his list.

"They're still under consideration," he said. "They're only going to take one more corner, so if my decision is not made by the time another cornerback commits …I don't want to be in that situation."
