2014 Intro: Anthony Davis

Monroeville (PA) Gateway has several top prospects in their 2014 class, including some holding BCS offers. Junior cornerback Anthony Davis is starting to hear from top programs.

Monroeville Gateway is annually one of Pennsylvania's strongest teams, and this year will be no exception. The junior class is especially loaded with top prospects and college recruiters have taken notice.

Anthony Davis (6-foot-1, 175-pounds) is a 2014 cornerback prospect, and a player that has excelled in coverage in camps and combines this summer. Davis stood out two weeks ago at the Youngstown State 7on7 tournament.

"I can play cornerback or safety," Davis stated. "My strength is my coverage ability. I'm working on being a smarter player overall, and learning my responsibilities better."

Davis has heard from several of the top programs in the area, and interest should pick up during the season.

"I'm hearing from schools like Maryland, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Penn State and West Virginia," he reported. "I was at Maryland's camp this summer and really liked it there. I was hurt before I went to Maryland's camp and that was my first time back, but I thought I did really well."

EVALUATION: Davis has the size to play safety, but showed the hip recovery and quick feet needed to play cornerback at the recent Youngstown State 7on7. The Gateway secondary is loaded with 2014 prospects, and this player seems to fit with his teammates currently holding offers. As his junior film gets distributed, it would not be surprising to see offers headed his way.
