"Kylon Brown is getting a lot of interest from Coach Zac Spavital," said Ryan Antoine, current Westgate and former West Saint Mary head coach. "Kylon has knowledge of the game to take things to another level. He does a great job of breaking on the ball."
Brown likes the idea of reuniting with Houston true frosh Jontrey Tillman.
"That would be great," he said. "It would show how much my game has improved. I looked up to Jontrey and tried to pattern some of my game after him. I also like Florida, LSU and Ole Miss. I like the speed on defense that Florida has.
"I have a 3.7 GPA. I'm an outgoing guy who loves the game. I don't get caught up in the hype, and I'm into good sportsmanship."
Brown talked about his strength on the field.
"It's my coverage skills," he said. "With my experience learning under Coach Antoine, I'm able to read the the quarterback and that gives me an advantage."
Brown camped at LSU this summer. He has a former teammate, Jerald Hawkins, who is a true frosh in Baton Rouge. Brown has a current teammate, QB/S Trevell Dixon, that was formerly committed to Nebraska.
"Trevell is doing a good job learning our new multiple offense," Brown said. "You'll see him on defense some this year, too."
West Saint Mary is a Class 2A school located near the Gulf of Mexico in south-central Louisiana. The Wolfpack take on Berwick in the preseason jamboree next week.
