Florida CB names top two

Damonte Jones is a talented cornerback prospect from Trinity Catholic High in Ocala and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Damonte Jones is still waiting for his first scholarship offer but he's getting lots of looks. He talked about his top schools.

"I like Purdue, Clemson, South Carolina, and West Virginia," Jones said.

"I like Purdue because they're a good program and I love their defense."

"Clemson speaks for itself. I just love the way coach Dabo coaches."

"West Virginia is like a great fit for me, defense wise."

"South Carolina, I like how they're in the SEC and that it's on the rise and they have a big time coach. Steve Spurrier knows what he is doing."

Two schools would be at the top of his list if they came through with offers.

"If I start to pick up offers from these schools then Purdue and South Carolina will definitely be my top two," he said.

Jones finished his junior season with 25 tackles and five interceptions. He also plays some running back on offense.

As a Prospect: Jones put his name on the recruiting map with a strong sophomore season at Ocala Trinity, where they won a state title in 2010. He has excellent cover skills, good athletic ability, and he's very aggressive in the secondary. He makes plays there. Jones, who has a twin brother named Jamonte, is a BCS-caliber cornerback prospect and will be one to watch this season.
