Tulane commit Parry Nickerson update

Tulane commit Parry Nickerson talks about his upcoming season at West Jefferson.

West Jefferson is being mentioned as a state championship contender, despite the fact that the Buccaneers were eliminated in the first round of the 5A bracket in 2011.

"I'm trying to show leadership and step up to the plate," Parry Nickerson said. "We work hard every day at practice. I'd like to have the most interceptions and most turnovers, and also return a couple of kicks for touchdowns.

"I expect (2013 WRs) Ronald Lewis and Devin Scott to have blowout senior seasons and put everything on the line. (2013 TE) Draper Riley (Southern Miss commit) is a playmaker who comes through in the clutch."

What does Nickerson do well?

"Man-to-man coverage," he replied. "Locking them up. Work hard, play hard and go to the Dome for the state finals."

Nickerson committed to Tulane this summer after an excellent camp performance that netted him an offer.

"I'm solid," he said of his commitment. "I plan on making some Tulane games this year."

West Jeff scrimmaged O.P. Walker yesterday, and we'll have details on that in a weekend notebook.
