One player with early offers is 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback Vashon Tucker, who holds offers from UCLA, Rutgers and Hawaii and among the others schools he is hearing from are Boston College, Syracuse, Maryland, Connecticut and West Virginia.
"I have the three," he said of his offers. "I'm just working hard and taking my time."
Tucker and ECA are readying for Friday's season opener at Strom Thurman High (Johnston, S.C.), but are coming off a disappointing scrimmage against Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) in which they yielded five touchdowns in two quarters and did not score.
"We need to get tougher, work harder and rest up and watch game film and hopefully we come out stronger than we did (Saturday)," Tucker said. "I think we're ready and capable. I think we treated it like a regular 7-on-7 and we weren't organized. We didn't come out with any intensity."
Tucker said his personal mission in the offseason was to increase his strength and foot speed. "I'm stronger and I did a lot of footwork (drills)," he said. "I'm much better than last year breaking on the ball. My (position) coach had use doing drills every day."
Tucker doesn't know much about the schools to offer him, and Rutgers is the only campus of the three he has been on.
"UCLA came to our school one day and they watched film and after three plays they offered me," Tucker said. "I hear it is nice.
"Rutgers was looking for 2013 players and I guess they thought I was pretty good.
"They came through (in the spring) and I talked to them, but I haven't talked to them since."
