Junior Highlights: Andrew Motuapuaka

Andrew Motuapuaka committed to Virginia Tech back in April. See the talented linebacker in action in this presentation by FOX Sports Next.

Salem High (Virginia Beach, Va.) linebacker Andrew Motuapuaka is one of the top players in Virginia. The 6-foot, 210-pound linebacker is one of the Sundevils' leaders and the anchor of their defense. Motuapuaka picked the Hokies over offers from Old Dominion, Utah, and Stanford.

As soon as you turn on the film, Motuapuaka's explosiveness jumps out at you. The Virginia Tech commit is a great athlete and fundamentally sound football player. Once the ball is snapped, he reads and reacts to the play quickly. Motuapuaka plays with good pad level and does a nice job using his hands to shed blockers. After he gets of the block, he plays sideline to sideline extremely well. In pursuit, Motuapuaka takes good angles and plays under control. He has good instincts and a nose for the football. Although he does not have prototypical size, Motuapuaka is the definition of a football player and should be able to add 20 to 30 pounds to his frame when he gets to Blacksburg. Look for him to be an impact player for Bud Foster's defense sooner than later. Motuapuaka is the three-star prospect and the No. 32 middle linebacker in the country.
