Clark: Mid-Atlantic Quick Hitters

Football season is here. Below are some news and notes on some of the top players in the Mid-Atlantic.

Hermitage High (Richmond, Va.) running back Derrick Green is visiting Georgia tomorrow. Tomorrow night, he will travel to Auburn and stay until Sunday.

Old Dominion has recruited very well this spring. The Monarchs have done a great job keeping local talent home. Look for that to continue, as they lead for Phoebus High (Hampton, Va.) running back Tony Pittman and Oscar Smith High (Chesapeake, Va.) outside linebacker Kanyia Anderson. Anderson could commit as early as next week, while Pittman will likely decide later this fall.

2014 Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic running back Elijah Hood picked up offer No. 9 this week from Virginia Tech.

2014 Bayside High (Virginia Beach, Va.) defensive back Quin Blanding was offered by UCLA this week. It is offer No. 30 for the elite prospect.

Andrew Brown, who recently transferred to Oscar Smith High (Chesapeake, Va.) from Indian River High (Chesapeake, Va.), is up to 30 scholarship offers, with the latest coming from Florida State. Brown told me Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Miami, and Clemson are recruiting him the hardest. Although he has not scheduled any trips yet, the elite 2014 defensive lineman said he will definitely visit Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Florida, Clemson, Miami, and Alabama this fall.

Gaffney (S.C.) High playmaker Shaquille Davidson is one of the top receivers in the class of 2014. Davidson has a top four of Ohio State, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. He has offers from all four schools.

Lake Taylor High (Norfolk, Va.) defensive end Jalyn Holmes will visit N.C. State this weekend. Holmes, who has 12 offers, said along with Wolfpack, Alabama, Virginia, and Virginia Tech are recruiting him the hardest.
