Powell Keeping Options Open

For Deshai Powell, Friday nights 70-0 win over a crosstown rival was the way he wanted to start his final year at Lawrence Central High School.

For the members of Lawrence Central's (Indianapolis, Ind.) football team, Friday nights 70-0 win was special. For senior Deshai Powell, it was the perfect way to start his final year.

"This is the way I wanted to start my senior season," said Powell. "I've been here since my freshman year and I don't think we've every come out and beat anybody like this, so this is very special."

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end already holds a couple of offers and is hearing from several others.

"I already have offered from Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan," said Powell. "I'm hearing from a lot of the other schools in the Mid American Conference as well as Minnesota and Indiana."

Powell camped with several programs this past summer including Toledo, Indiana and Western Michigan to name a few and is in no hurry to make a college decision.
