Florida WR makes commitment

Myles Gaines is a standout wide receiver prospect from Lincoln High in Tallahassee and he made his college commitment Monday night.

"I just committed to Yale," Myles Gaines said. "They have a great balance of football, tradition, and academics."

Gaines, 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, spent some time there over the summer for their camp and came away impressed, and with an offer.

"They offered. I really hit it off with the coaching staff and enjoyed the football atmosphere a lot."

App State, Furman, and Harvard are three other college programs who offered the talented wide receiver prospect. In the end, Yale had something the others didn't.

"I have a great relationship with the coaching staff and overall it felt like the best fit."

Gaines believes he'll have a good chance to make an early impact.

"They see me as being a player who can make big plays on the offense and as long as I prove myself, there will be an opportunity to see playing time as a freshman."

Gaines finished his junior season with seven catches for 65 yards and three touchdowns.
