West: Preseason Top Ten Running Backs

Stockton (Calif.) Lincoln running back Justin Davis and Beaverton (Ore.) Aloha running back Thomas Tyner lead the list of the West's top running backs...

West: Preseason Top Ten Running Backs
Location: Stockton, Calif.
High School: Lincoln
Size: 6-1, 195
Recruiting: Committed to USC
The Skinny: The top back in the West in this class, he was solid at both the Oakland NFTC and at The Opening, the latter where he played on the same team as fellow USC commit Ty Isaac in the Nike 7ON.  The U.S. Army All-American, though, is at his finest on Friday nights in the fall, where he's one of the most physical gifted prospects in the country, especially running the ball between the tackles.
Location: Beaverton, Ore.
High School: Aloha
Size: 6-0/200
Recruiting: Committed to Oregon
The Skinny: Tyner laid low this spring and summer, trying to stay healthy from some nagging track injuries so he could come back with full force this fall for Aloha.  As a sophomore, he helped his school to the state title, and when he struggled with injuries as a junior, so too did his squad.  Now, fully healthy, the future Duck back is gearing up for another run to the state title.
Location: Redlands, Calif.
High School: Redlands
Size: 6-0/188
Recruiting: Committed to UCLA
The Skinny: Lee looked good at the SoCal NFTC and also showed out well at the B2G Elite and was one of the West's bright spots at Gridiron Kings in Orlando.  But much like Davis, he's at his best during the season, and Redlands is expecting big things from the future Bruin.
Location: Lompoc, Calif.
High School: Lompoc
Size: 5-11/210
Recruiting: Committed to Washington
The Skinny: Coleman is a physical back who looked good at the SoCal NFTC but like other backs in the West, his true value is as a workhorse back.  The future Husky will look to keep Lompoc's unbeaten streak alive and get them to the state bowl that eluded them last year, while also looking to improve on an already impressive 2,000-yard junior season.
Location: Sherman Oaks, Calif.
High School: Notre Dame
Size: 5-7/160
Recruiting: California, Notre Dame, Oregon State, UCLA, Utah and Washington
The Skinny: Muhammad didn't do any camps this summer, but that was because he was representing the U.S. at the Junior World Track Championships in Spain.  The California State champ in the 100m, 200m and 4x100 relay as a junior, there isn't a faster football player in the state of California, and Notre Dame is hoping for a big season from him this fall.

The Next Five:
6. Terrell Newby (West Hills, Calif.)
7. Pierre Cormier (San Diego, Calif.)- Committed to Arizona
8. Deon Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.)
9. Jalen Ortiz (Peoria, Ariz.)
10. Aaron Baltazar (Chula Vista, Calif.)

Location: Lakeside, Ariz.
High School: Blue Ridge
Size: 6-3/230
Recruiting: Committed to Arizona State
The Skinny: Cox stars on both sides of the ball, showing out at both inside linebacker and fullback. On defense, he shows his toughness and excellent football instincts while showing his speed, quickness and high level athleticism at fullback. He's a tough kid who covers a lot of ground at linebacker and is a natural run stuffer. At fullback he's quick through the hole with good hands out of the backfield and could easily play on either side of the ball in college.
