Vanderbilt gains another Memphis area commit

Harding Academy (Memphis, TN) DE/TE Mack Weaver has committed to Vanderbilt according to a twitter post by Weaver. Weaver is rated a 3-star prospect by and is the fourth Memphis area prospect to commit to Vanderbilt during the 2013 recruiting year.

Weaver's Tweet consisted of the following:

"Verbally committed to Vanderbilt yesterday!!! #AnchorDown"

In early May Weaver spoke with Yancy Porter of about his visit to Vanderbilt.

"I like the Vandy coaches. They have nice facilities. They were doing some construction while we were there, and it was still nice, so that just lets me know how much nicer it will be when it is all finished. Their players looked like they were having a great time while they were practicing and still going hard at it pretty hard at the scrimmage I went to."

Weaver has a solid list of offers. In addition to Vandy, he was offered by Clemson, Arizona State, Louisville, Memphis, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Cincinnati and Virginia.

At Harding last season Weaver had seven catches for 141 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 64 tackles and 12 sacks.

Weaver joins Darrius Sims, Gerald Perry and Latevius Rayford as Memphis area players who have committed to Vanderbilt.
