Coatney covets UGA offer

Josiah Coatney is a prospect Scout identified early in 2011. He had over 80 tackles as a sophomore and he is ready to emerge as a true prospect this fall. Georgia is his home state and he'd love nothing more than to be a Bulldog.

"I have heard a little bit from Georgia and they invited me to their camp this summer, but I just haven't been able to get over there yet," Josiah Coatney told Scout.

"I really wanted to go to their camp, but I just did not have the time to get there. I was taking summer classes, working out with my team, and I did not really get out much this summer.

"I will start to get out to games this fall and then to camps next year though."

Athens is where he would like to visit first.

"I love Georgia and I really like Mark Richt. I am very interested in going to school there and I want to get over there to meet the coaches and see everything.

"I have always liked Georgia and I have a lot of interest in them. They have a great school, they always have great recruiting classes, and that is an offer I really want."

Coatney makes it very clear that UGA is his childhood favorite and the school he is leaning towards early on, but there is another school he likes too.

It is Auburn.

"I have been over to Auburn with my team for a camp, so I kind of know what it is like there. They are one school that has been sending me some letters and stuff like that too. So, I know they are interested in me, so that is cool."

The 6-foot-4, 260 pound junior out of Douglasville (Ga.) Chapel Hill had 82 tackles and five and a half sacks as a sophomore and he hopes to up those numbers this year.

"We have a new staff this year and I am moving from defensive end to defensive tackle, so I am not sure if I can have over 80 tackles again, but that is what I going for," he said. "I just want to get better and make plays for the team. I would like to have over 15 tackles for loss and at least 10 sacks too."

He is looking forward to making more plays and making a name for himself this fall.

"A few schools know about me, but not too many, so I want that to change. I want to earn some offers, I want to visit some schools, and I will work hard to make those things happen."
