New Interest for Henderson

FOX Sports NEXT is in the streets this fall to bring you all the coverage from across the Midlands region. Recently, we caught up with Duncanville defensive tackle Cornelius Henderson from Texas. The season has already started and he has a few offers and some new interest. Check out this FOX Sports NEXT feature and find out what programs are checking in…

For the latter part of the summer things have gotten better for Duncanville (TX) defensive tackle Cornelius Henderson. Just a couple of months ago, Henderson had no offers to his name.

Now three schools have extended offers, including Alabama State and Arkansas State. But in addition to these, the 6-foot-2, 292-pound defender has a couple of other programs that are looking at him.

"Next weekend I will be going to a game at Colorado. The coach has come by the school three times (during the off season)," Henderson said. "I have called him a couple of times and there has been some strong interest there. I am also starting to hear a lot from Vanderbilt too."

So far, the only official visit that Henderson has scheduled is Alabama State, which he said will be taken in December.

As for the programs that are showing the new interest, Henderson said that they, along with Missouri, Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma State, will be watching closely early this season to see if an offer may be given. Based on has been done throughout the summer, Henderson looks to give all the coaches a new perspective on his game.

"I've gotten better with my hands and quicker with my feet. This and I'm better with my lateral movement," Henderson said. "This is some of the things I have worked on all summer."
