Eleanor Roosevelt HS CB Elijah Mitchell (Corona, CA) was offered by Boise State a few months ago and just recently set-up his first official visit as he'll be in Boise in November to watch the Broncos battle Colorado State. The talented CB says the Bronco coaching staff has told him that they're looking for a "speedy boundary corner" and that he fits that concept perfectly.

"I set an official visit to Boise State for the CSU game," he said. "That's the only one I have scheduled so far," he added.

"They started recruiting me back during track season," he stated. "They offered shortly after that, want me to go up there and visit the school, and I know they've had a top football program for a few years now."

"Coach Bhonapha is recruiting me," said Mitchell. "He's pretty straight-forward about everything. He definitely knows what he's talking about."

He went on to say that playing for a defense like Boise State would be a "great opportunity" for him.

"I think their defense is great," he said. "I really think it would be a great opportunity for me to play for a defense like that."

"I'll be looking to meet the coaches and see what their plan is for me," said Mitchell. "I'll see what the future of the program is like, talk to academic advisors, see what type of conference they play in, and things like that."

Mitchell and his teammates had their season opener on Friday. The program has been "down" for the past few years, but he says this year's team simply has to take it game-by-game.

"We're just going to take it game-by-game," he said. "I really think we can go for league and then make the playoffs after that. The important thing for us to just go game-by-game."

"A lot of the younger guys look to me for leadership since I'm the only one with offers," he said. "They want to reach that level as well, want tips for how they can improve, and I try to help as much as I can...just do my part."

So, what does Elijah Mitchell bring to the gridiron?

"The one thing I always hear is my speed...how fast I am," he said. "Boise State said they're looking for a speedy boundary corner and feel that I would be a good fit," he added.
