FOX Sports Ohio: Colerain at Ryle

FOX Sports Ohio heads across the Ohio River for a "River Rivalry" between Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain and Union (KY) Ryle on Thursday night. Colerain will enter the game heavily favored but knows Ryle is not a team to take lightly. The game will be televised on FOX Sports Ohio and kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. est.

One of Ohio's best will battle one of Northern Kentucky's best as the Colerain Cardinals take on the Ryle Raiders for FOX Sports Ohio's Thursday Night High School Football Game of the Week.

The Raiders are 1-1 on the season having lost their season opener 35-6 to Cooper before getting redemption in a 28-20 road victory over Henry Clay after making some changes to their offense.

Ryle head coach Bryson Warner gutted the teams spread offense opting to go to a Power-I attack with senior running back Tanner Pulice picking up 144 of the teams 287 total rushing yards during the game. He'll be joined by David Aulick who rushed 14 times for 95 yards and a touchdown.

However, Ryle's defense showed some areas of concern by giving up 344 yards on the ground only to be saved by forcing three fumbles.

Colerain is coming off a 28-15 victory over last year's Ohio Division One state runner-up Pickerington Central in the Crosstown Showdown and is loaded with some top talent to watch.

On offense the Cardinals look for offensive lineman Dylan Wiesman (Cincinnati pledge) to open holes for their offensive attack speared by quarterback L.A. Ramsby and running back Chris Davis.

Both players suffered knee injuries missing last season but are back and looked strong in their first action of the season. Ramsby rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries while Davis added 35 of his own and the go-ahead touchdown in their last game.

However, the Cardinals are not a two-headed monster as they look to spread the ball around to fullback Jackson Sorn and junior running back DeTuan Smith-Moore. Both players are capable of carrying the offense on their backs if called upon.

On defense look for defensive tackle Daeshaun Durham, linebackers Corey Lozier and Tegray Scales to man the front seven with defensive back Dejuan Lang leading the way in the secondary.

One thing to watch in this game is if Colerain looks ahead to their big match-up next weekend against St. Xavier. If the Cardinals are not focused, Ryle could pull an upset that would send shockwaves across the two states.
