Pre-Game: Baylor Commit Pullom

FOX Sports NEXT is in the streets this fall to bring you all the coverage from across the Midlands region. Recently, we caught up with Cy Woods defensive back Alfred Pullom from Cypress, Texas. The Baylor commit is gearing up for the first game of the 2012 season. See what is in his mind in the FOX Sports NEXT feature…

This weekend, Houston (TX) Cy Woods safety Alfred Pullom and the Wildcat team will be playing in the new Dynamo Stadium, facing off against Klein Collins. Pullom, a Baylor commitment, shared a few thoughts before his team takes the field this Saturday.

"We are looking pretty good right now. We have a few young players in some spots, but they are ready to play," Pullom said. "Offensively, we have some new guys up front, but we have lots of guys who can make plays. And on defense, we are solid. We have experience at every position, other than cornerback where we have two new players."

Look for the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Pullom to get going pretty fast in this match up. He stated that he and the squad are excited and want to set the tone. Coming into this game, Pullom feel as though he is a new player.

What changes have taken place since last season?

"I'm just a smarter football player. I understand that game a lot better and moving quicker," Pullom said. "And with that, my overall athleticism has improved."

Those improvements must have paid off handsomely as Pullom's recruitment took off this past spring. Ultimately, he ended up with nine offers, but chose Baylor as his schools for next fall.

Now, with that decision behind him, what are his thoughts?

"I knew when I went down there over the summer that I was going to commit. I just wanted to see the campus and talk with all of the coaches again," Pullom said. "My boy Deoundrei Davis (Texas commit) told when this first started that once I got my first one, more would come. Then, it was all about finding the right fit and picking the school that is best for me. I found that with Baylor."

Pullom said he keeps a good and steady contact with the coaches. Whether it is after a tough practice or a scrimmage, Pullom lets the Bears coaches know what is going on.

When he gets to Baylor all that is known is that he will play in the secondary. At Cy Woods, he plays safety, but at the Baylor camp he got some work in at cornerback.
