Kentucky should be getting an official visit from a Tampa, Fla., defensive end later this month.
"I am talking to them about a visit sometime in September," said Tampa Bay Tech standout Antonio Guerad. "Their coaches are looking at my schedule and trying to pick out a good time that might work for me.
"I'm looking forward to getting up there and checking things out because Kentucky is in my top four right now."
Guerad (6-4, 230, 4.7) opens his senior season on Saturday against Newsome High School. He's coming off a junior year which saw him record 35 tackles, five sacks and two forced fumbles.
In addition to Kentucky, he has picked up scholarship offers from Iowa State, Central Florida, Florida International, Cincinnati and Arkansas State. He is also receiving steady interest from Florida, Georgia Tech and South Florida.
"My top four is Kentucky, Iowa State, UCF and FIU," he said. "I think I'm going to visit all of them. I'll see what happens from there."
Asked how UK got involved with him, Guerad said: "One of their coaches came down to see me at school. The next day, I had an offer from them. They said they really liked my size and speed, and that they thought I had a lot of talent that still hasn't come out yet."
He said the opportunity to play in the SEC is a big draw for the Wildcats. "I really like that aspect. You get to play against some great teams and get seen a lot on TV. Plus, there's an opportunity for me to get on the field early and help them out. They're an up-and-coming program, and I could help make a difference right away."
