Jacory Washington gets two more offers

Jacory Washington, a 6-5, 225-pound junior TE/WR hybrid for the Westlake (LA) Rams, was disappointed that his team wasn't able to play its regular season opener vs. New Orleans McMain due to Hurricane Isaac, but he was able to temper that with good news from two colleges that offered late this week.

Jacory Washington reported a pair of new offers yesterday: from Ole Miss and San Diego State.

"Coach (Tony) White asked who has offered and he said to add one from San Diego State," said Washington, who has also been offered by LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Illinois, Florida Atlantic and the defending New Orleans Bowl champion Ragin' Cajuns in Lafayette.

"Ole Miss likes me as an H-Back. Their coach, Spencer Heard, said he plans to take a ride and come watch my game when Ole Miss plays at Tulane (set for Sept. 22nd)."

Washington hasn't had much contact yet with either White or Heard, although he plans to call each and learn more about their respective programs.

The junior from southwest Louisiana added that he was excited to recently hear from Auburn. Washington hopes to add an offer from head coach Gene Chizik and the Tigers to his list in the future.

There's talk that LSU leads for Washington.

"I'm still wide-open," he said. "I'm interested in all schools. My cousin, D'Lyle Washington, plays for Ole Miss."

San Diego St., the alma mater of NFL great and New Orleans (Carver) product Marshall Faulk, has been active in Louisiana recently.

Coach White landed a commitment from John Curtis Christian SS/RB Brandon Porter during the summer, and Porter's teammate, three-star OLB Duke Riley, has said he'll take an official to SDSU.

Westlake, a Class 3A second-round playoff club last year, won its jamboree tune-up two weeks ago against 5A Sulphur as Washington grabbed a touchdown pass.

The Rams host 3A non-district opponent Abbeville (0-1) in week two.
