Prospect Review: UA commit Devin Holiday

Although they fell to a very good Mission Viejo (Calif.) team last Friday 35-21, the best player on the field might have been Mission Hills (Calif.) defensive back Devin Holiday.

Devin Holiday was one of the big standouts of the spring/summer 7 on 7 circuit playing for the loaded B2G squad. He established himself as one of the top cover corners in the region and got his season off to a strong start over the weekend.

Holiday matched up with Diablo two-way standout Max Redfield, shadowing him all over the field and did a great job in man coverage. Redfield caught just two balls for 12 yards in what turned in to a very physical matchup between the two future Pac 12 athletes.

Holiday has added plenty of size and strength since last season and is noticeably bigger in his upper body. He runs very well, has excellent ball skills and high level football instincts. He has a knack for knowing when to break on the ball and shows very god explosiveness out of his breaks.

The Arizona commit also had the play of the night with a dazzling 90 yard punt return for a touchdown that unfortunately was called back due to a penalty. Holiday is still coming in to his own and has some significant upside to him. It won't be surprising at all if the athlete sees the field early for the Wildcats next fall.
