Vandy offers Dupre, who is next?

Junior WR Malachi Dupre (John Curtis Christian) added a new offer from Vanderbilt a few days ago. The 6-4, 185-pound deep threat with big hops (41-inch vertical) talks about the Commodores inside and reveals which two programs could be next to offer.

Malachi Dupre got the word that Vanderbilt's staff was looking to speak with him.

"I got in contact with their wide receivers coach," he said. "He told me how much they want me at Vanderbilt, and how I can make an early impact there.

"We talked about their game last week with South Carolina. I was rooting for Vanderbilt. Many times, I'll root for the underdog. That's just how I am. Vanderbilt played well."

Miami and Mississippi State could be next to offer.

"I talked to a Miami coach recently," Dupre said. "It was late, but he was glad to hear from me. He wants me to call him back Sunday, so the offer might come then.

"I really, really respect the tradition at Miami. A lot of people like the city itself, too. Miami gets a lot of respect, no matter how they're doing on the field. Miami is a big offer, and I would love to get it."

The Hurricanes signed DL Jacoby Briscoe out of Carencro in south Louisiana this year.

"I think Missisippi State is coming too," Dupre added. "(Former teammate and current MSU true frosh) Torrey Dale told me a week and a half ago that Coach (Greg) Knox wants to talk with me.

"We just haven't gotten in contact with each other yet."

Dupre caught three passes for approximately 60 yards in last week's 26-7 win over St. Paul's. He had a 70-yard post called back due to a penalty.

Tonight, John Curtis and Tampa Plant -- both nationally-ranked -- square off in the Superdome.

Dupre has offers from the likes of LSU, Colorado, Ole Miss, Colorado, Cincinnati, Florida State and more.
