Florida DL getting good looks

Joe Jones is a talented defensive line prospect from Chaminade Madonna High and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Joe Jones played his junior season at Champagnat Catholic and now he's at Chaminade for his senior season.

"I had four tackles and two sacks," Jones said of his opening game performance against Gulliver Prep.

Jones, 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, has just one offer (North Alabama) but is being recruited by a few others.

"Purdue, FAU, Texas Tech, and Florida State called me this week," he said. "After my 3rd or 4th game they want my film. The Texas Tech coach took a break away from his meeting to call me he said. The Purdue coach said they will be here doing their bye week to see me play they want to watch a whole game."

Jones believes an offer from the Red Raiders is around the corner.

"The Texas Tech coach said they liked me since spring. They have their foot on the gas and I keep checking my mailbox because an offer can be there any day now."

Another coaching staff he keeps in touch with is West Virginia.

"I also talked to Coach Gillispee from West Virginia yesterday," he said. "He told me he heard I was leading Broward in sacks after week one with 3 and to keep up the great work. He will be back to get me."

Jones finished his junior season with 79 tackles, 21 for loss, 12 sacks, and one touchdown as a tight end.
