"I'm feeling good about the future for me (with the Sun Devils)," he said. "Coach (Michael) Norvell is happy. He congratulated me about the commitment and said I can play as a freshman. I can't wait to get up there and visit ASAP."
West Jeff entered the season ranked No. 2 on our Class 5A list, and the Bucs had a big opening night by hammering John Ehret on Friday (57-23).
"We've been practicing hard and working hard," Lewis said prior to the game. "We're ready to get out there and put on a performance."
"I feel real good and if we play good it could be a blowout tonight," he said. "Coach (Tim) Rebowe, Coach Hud (Hudspeth), Coach (Reed) Stringer and Coach (Tim) Rodrigue all stay in contact with me from UL. I'm looking forward to becoming a Ragin' Cajun.
"The key for us this year is to do well up front. Devin is a fast guy (two TDs last night) with the hands to catch it."
Senior RB Jamell Gilbert hit the 99-yard rushing mark last night for West Jeff, which was playing its first game of the season after Hurricane Isaac wreaked havoc on the week one schedule.
"I'm trying to rush for 1,000 yards this year and help our team get past the first round of the playoffs (lost to Byrd in the 2011 postseason opener).
"Tech is recruiting me and one other back. Their coaches are waiting to see how I do this season before offering. I'm going to keep working hard, stay focused and give 100%."
