Staples To Visit Hattiesburg

Jamari Staples is a name really moving up the charts in recruiting. The Eagles have taken notice, and are getting in with the Ashland, Alabama prospect. has the interview and story.

Jamari Staples is a name to remember. He's having a big time senior season, and many college coaches are taking notice.

Including Southern Miss.

The talented prospect updated the latest with last night, and the confidence he exudes should not be confused with pride. He is really playing at this high of a level right now.

"I feel like I am playing like I am already in college right now," he said. "That is how I feel when I step onto the field.

"I just feel like I can't be stopped right now regardless of who I am lined up against."

Staples has seen many friends and former teammates take a difficult path, and he has learned from that and is determined not to let himself become just another statistic.

"I have a great motivation to get out of my city," he said. "I have seen a lot of great athletes in my city who didn't have the grades or who threw it away with poor decisions.

"I don't want to be like that. I want to go on and succeed and make something out of myself."

Staples is hearing from several schools right now, including Southern Miss.

"The Eagles want me to come to the game on the 29th, so I'm going to take a visit to see the campus and take in a game then," he said.

"The Coaches really just want to see my in person. They have seen what I do on film and now they just want to meet me and get to know me.

"I've done research on the school and I am interested. They have a great program and it would be great to be a part of it."

He also has just been offered a full scholarship to UAB. He is also taking a trip to Ole Miss this weekend, and Northern Iowa along with MTSU are also in contact with him.

"My mind is wide open right now," he said. "People are asking me where I want to go and what I want to do, but I tell them I really don't have any idea right now. I will stay patient and see what opportunities present themselves."

Ole Miss is liking Staples as a safety, but he said the other schools are all looking at him as a wide receiver.

"I like scoring TD's or taking them away, it doesn't matter to me," he said.
