"I'm excited," 2013 WR Donovahn Jones said of his announcement. "I'm very excited."

The multi-sport athlete from Dutchtown High School (GA) made his verbal commitment to Missouri early today.

"I already knew [Missouri] was where I wanted to go; I just hadn't made it public yet," Jones admitted. "After seeing them play [the University of Georgia] on Saturday, I couldn't hold back any longer."

Jones chose one of the newest members of the SEC over Arkansas and Minnesota.

"I definitely wanted to play in the SEC," Jones said. "I knew I had to make that choice."

As a high school senior, Jones excels on both the offensive and defensive ends of the football field, as well as on the basketball court. Missouri plans to use Jones as a wide receiver.

"I'll do whatever they want me to do at Mizzou," Jones said. "Off the field, I'm humble and I won't get in any trouble. I'll take care of my studies, too.

"On the field, I'm a playmaker," he said with quiet confidence. "I'll make plays. I'll be a target for the quarterback."

In its first year competing in college football's most dominant conference, Missouri boasts promising seasons to come. "I haven't met too many of the players yet," Jones said of Missouri's future. "But I plan to do that on my next visit."

Jones is the 16th commitment in Missouri's 2013 recruiting class.
