Friday Night Lights: Week 4

IlliniPlaybook is headed out again in the Chicago area to check out some preps football. Find out where we'll be when some of the best athletes in the area take the field.

Crete-Monee's Laquon Treadwell is good.

Did I mention that Laquon Treadwell is really good?

Ok, now with that out of the way, here's a look at this weekend's game between Crete-Monee and host Glenbard South in a showdown in Illinois high school football.

The Glenbard teams are typically some of the better squads in the state, but Crete-Monee is a FOXSportsNEXT top-10 team with a top-flight leader in wide receiver Laquon Treadwell and rising junior linebacker Nyles Morgan. South comes into this game 2-1 and Crete-Monee comes in at 3-0, so these are both teams that are used to winning games.

This may be one of Crete-Monee's toughest remaining tests prior to the playoff season, so this could be a good gauge of how they handle teams that play more disciplined football.

We take a look at a couple of the players who are sure to have an impact on this one:

Teams gameplan for Treadwell every week, but it's hard to stop a guy who can consistently go up over double coverage and come down with the football. Treadwell was the WR MVP of the Nike Football camp in Champaign back in June and has garnered numerous awards and recognitions since then. What will be fun to watch is how Treadwell plays like a receiver on defense from his safety position.

While Treadwell is the main guy for Crete-Monee this year, junior Nyles Morgan is starting to get his fair share of college attention as well. Already with a good offer list, Morgan has all of the physical tools to be a mean linebacker. His athleticism is one of his best assets, and he'll get a chance to put those on display Friday night.
