MSU Commitment Scoreboard Update Week 5

Week five of the high school football season is already in the books. For most programs, district play is just around the corner. Six Mississippi State commitments have helped their team's to an undefeated start to the season, while some others are already behind the proverbial eight ball when it comes to making a run at the post season.

B.J. Hammond and Gadsden City won a hard fought region game over Oxford and fellow Bulldog pledges Ulric Jones and Trent Simpson.

Hammond scored his second touchdown of the campaign when he nabbed a second quarter pass and raced 75 yards to the endzone.

Gadsden City is now 3-0 on the year and 2-0 in region. The Titans will travel to Albertville this week in another region game.

Oxford now 1-2 and 0-2 in region play will travel to Huntsville to get their season back on track.

Shelby Christy reeled in four passes for 69 yards and a score as Dutchtown (3-0) rolled Sulphur 49-17.

The Griffins will be back in action this week as they take to the road to battle the Broncos of Zachary.

Cord Sandberg threw four touchdowns as Manatee (3-0) got by Miami Central 44-34.

Cord will take the show on the road next week as they take on Southeastern High.

Bogue Chitto is now ranked #1 in Mississippi's 1A classification.

On Saturday, Brandon Wells and the rest of the Bobcats showed why as they blew out Resurrection 35-14.

BCHS (4-0) will take on the Wardogs of Hinds AHS this week.

Chris Jones and the Hilltoppers of Houston just keep on rolling. HHS (5-0) destroyed Hamilton 37-0.

Houston has been strong on defense all season, but this week the team recorded it's first shutout of the 2012 campaign.

Jamaal Clayborn and Jackson Academy kept their winning streak in tact with an impressive 42-18 win over Lamar.

JA will host Heritage this week in hopes of extending their winning streak to 26 games.

DeVante Scott caught six passes for 42 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Co-Lin blasted East Central 47-10.

The Wolfpack (2-1) will take on Jones County Junior College this Thursday.

Kent Flowers and Hollandale Simmons notched their first win of the season this past Friday night as they got by Ruleville Central 33-14

Simmons (1-3) will look to keep the momentum going this week as they battle Gentry.

Deon Mix and South Panola have played an ambitious non-district schedule and the Tigers are 2-2 as they enter district play.

South Panola traveled to Bentonville, Arkansas this past week and wound up on the business end of a 41-6 shelling.

Through four games, the Tigers have managed just 32 points, a number they will look to improve upon this week against Horn Lake.

Jake Thomas and Columbus fell to 2-2 after a 21-0 loss to Louisville.

The Falcons begin district play this week with a trip to Tupelo.

Kailo Moore and West Bolivar began the season 3-0, but have now dropped two in a row as the Eagles fell short at Aberdeen 45-28.

Moore will look to find more success this week as Leland comes to town.

Scott Austin and Gabriel Myles both enjoyed bye weeks.

Austin and Biloxi will take on D'iberville this week, while Starkville plays at Lanier.
