SMU offers local DB

SMU extended an offer to West Mequite cornerback Will Earley on Thursday morning. Is he interested?

SMU has sent out a few new offers this week so it comes as no surprise that three-star West Mesquite cornerback Will Earley picked one up on Thursday.

Earley is ranked 37th at his position and holds a slew of BCS offers but was both happy and a little shocked when he found out about his newest offer.

"I had no idea they were going to offer me," he said. "I really didn't expect it. It came out of nowhere. My coach actually told me about the offer."

Earley, who says he has not spoken to any SMU coaches directly, is not extremely familiar with SMU despite the proximity to his high school. However, the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is interested in learning more about the Mustangs.

"I don't know where they are as far as my interest level," Earley said. "I'm going to do some research and find some things out about them. I don't really know if I'll be taking a visit yet."

One school that Earley will definitely be seeing is Arizona State, which is in the lead for his services along with Ole Miss.

"Right now Ole Miss and Arizona State are at the top of my list," Earley said. "I'm going to Arizona State tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that."

Earley said that he hopes to make a final decision ‘sometime next month' after he makes trips to Ole Miss and Tennessee.
