Unofficials Continue for Barwick

Cincinnati Summit Country Day (Ohio) junior defensive tackle Michael Barwick has visited West Virginia, Cincinnati and Ohio State so far this season, and has other schools he's looking to see.

Michael Barwick has had a good start to his junior season, helping his Summit Country Day squad to a 4-0 record while fielding interest from colleges.

"I've gotten a lot of mail and from some new schools: Michigan State, Louisville, I got mail from UCLA, California, and Toledo."

The 6'2, 250-lb Barwick saw the Golden Bears play last week in Columbus when he visited Ohio State unofficially.

"Oh man, the Horseshoe was great. It doesn't get any better than that, sitting on the 50 with 105,000 screaming people. It was a great experience. I talked to Coach Vrabel and Coach Coombs, my recruiting coach. Coach Vrabel was telling me to stay in touch with him and said he hadn't heard from me in awhile, so that's a good thing. Coach Coombs said the same thing, asked me how the season was going, and said they'd see me soon."

Before that, Barwick went over to Morgantown, where the West Virginia Mountaineers have been in touch for awhile now.

"The West Virginia visit was great as well. We went on a little tour of the facilities before the game and that was cool. We got to see the Mantrip when players walk into the field and basically saw everything they do for the pregame. We didn't get to talk to the coaches because they were preparing for the game, but we still had a good time."

Barwick also had a chance to take a local visit, seeing a Thursday night game at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati.

"I went to UC for the very first game against Pitt. That was exciting as well. That's their rivalry, so we picked a great game to go to. The stands were full. They sold out the stadium, so it was a great game to go to."

Those visits won't be the last Barwick takes, as there are many other schools he hopes to see.

"As of right now, the 29th, I'm not sure where I'm going yet, but it's between Illinois or Michigan State. I still want to make it to a Michigan game, I haven't been there yet. I'd definitely like to get down there before the season's over and I'm supposed to be going to a Louisville game and a Toledo game as well."
