"The Ivy Leaguers, they offer spots and not scholarships, but Columbia and Penn have both done that and I'm talking a lot with Cornell and Harvard about that. I have offers from South Dakota State, North Dakota State, North Dakota, Montana State just offered and FBS, I have Eastern Michigan and I've been talking pretty extensively with Minnesota and Wisconsin, Wisconsin primarily as a walk-on spot."
To balance Ivy League opportunities with scholarship offers and walk-on spots is not easy, but Fahning admits he has a clear goal in mind.
"I would really love playing in the Big Ten. That's very important for me, so I'm really looking at Wisconsin and Minnesota."
The Golden Gophers are just waiting to see where a couple of dominoes fall before making a final decision.
"They're just looking right now to see what's available, because they've offered three people from Texas and one has committed, so they're seeing what happens with them."
With Wisconsin, Fahning believes he could earn a scholarship eventually.
"A walk-on spot would probably earn a scholarship after a few years. However, I was talking about that with Coach Markuson and he just got released after their second game, so I've briefly messaged Coach Miller about it."
He hopes to see both of those Big Ten programs up close in the near future.
"I plan to go to both Wisconsin and Minnesota and I went to South Dakota State for an unofficial."
