5-foot-11, 180 pound junior Jelani Parrish's senior season is off and running. The defensive back has been working on getting better each game.
"I've been working on reaction time and change in direction. I also feel a lot more confident in my knowledge of the plays because the coaching staff was new last year. I also feel a lot stronger because during the summer I worked out twice a day, four days a week and at least once a day six days a week."
Parrish has also begun hearing from some schools around the Midwest.
"Wisconsin sends a lot of mail. I figure that's pretty standard for all of their recruits. MAC schools as a collective send a lot of mail as well. I've spoken on the phone with Coach Bates from Northwestern and Coach Z from Wisconsin before. And I've exchanged emails with Coach Lamb at Harvard. Those are the most intimate contacts I've had. I don't have an offer as of this moment, but both Coach Bates and Coach Z said they'd like to get me on their respective campuses at some point."
While he still has a way to go before he makes his decision, he plans on taking his time with the whole recruitment process.
"I'd like to commit before the calendar year is over. I don't have any favorites yet. I'd like to wait until I hear what each school has to offer in terms of my career."
