The highly recruited 2013 OLB Trey Johnson welcomed a West Coast visitor at Central Gwinnett High School (GA) at practice today.
"[Trey] is going to take a visit to USC in January," Head Coach Todd Wofford said. "The date will be set next week. He's playing in the Under Armour All-American game in January, so it'll be the week before or after that."
"He's taking his official visits to cross all of his T's and dot all of his I's," Wofford said. "It's a major decision for him and his family. He doesn't want to leave anything to chance.
"[Trey] loves Coach Chizik," Wofford said of Johnson's commitment. "This takes nothing away from Auburn."
Ranked among the top 25 high school linebackers in the country, Johnson's priority in his future college program is linebacker development.
"He wants to make sure that he evaluates the teams that have traditionally had great linebackers at the next level," Wofford explained. "Those are the only types of schools that he's even looking at. Auburn has a great defensive coordinator - and they're young. That's his first choice. Ohio State, USC and Florida State also have great traditions of developing linebackers."
An official visit to Florida State has not yet been scheduled.
