During his previous two visits to UNC, Grier received campus tours and met the coaching staff. Thus, Wednesday's stay was about providing Grier a chance to appraise Anderson's coaching style. To accomplish that, Grier observed practice and sat in on a quarterback meeting.
"[Anderson] and Coach [Larry] Fedora both are high energy guys," Grier said. "The practice was very up tempo [and] very intense. I love the way they coach."
Throughout his stay, Grier was usually around Anderson, UNC's quarterback coach and offensive coordinator, in some capacity.
"He's the one I'm going to spend the most time with [if I play at UNC]– more than the head coach," Grier said. "So we're just trying to build a relationship with each other. I call him once a week and spent a lot of time with him [on Wednesday]."
Grier did have a brief meeting with Fedora in his office.
"He was just talking to me about what his plans are for the program and how he's trying to run things," Grier said. "He wants to turn this program into a dominating power on the east coast. He wants me to do that with him.
"He also wants to build a relationship with me – he wants to get to know me not just as a player, but as a person. I was born and raised in Charlotte and he wants to keep North Carolina boys here."
Six schools have offered Grier a scholarship – Florida, East Carolina, Lafayette, UNC, Tennessee, and Wake Forest. He says those are the six schools he's focused on the most at this stage of his recruitment.
"I'm focused on winning [a state championship] this season and then after the season is over, I'm going to narrow it down," Grier said. "I plan on making a decision really soon. I think a good target would be for me to commit during the spring."
With that said, Grier says he's "very interested" in UNC.
"I really like their coaching style, it's close to home, [and] they're going to give me a chance to compete to play early," Grier said. "I just want to keep building a relationship with them and I want to go back and learn more about the school and get a feel for the campus life."
Grier plans to return to UNC on Oct. 27 when the Tar Heels host NC State. His schedule also includes the Florida-LSU game in Gainesville on Oct. 6.
Previously, Grier has attended the Tennessee-Florida game in Knoxville and the South Carolina-East Carolina game in Columbia.
