Morrissey on Illini

Stevenson High (Ill.) 2014 defensive back Matt Morrissey talks about his most recent visit, to Illinois.

Lincolnshire Stevenson (Ill.) High 2014 defensive back Matt Morrissey has taken several visits this season.

The first to Michigan State, and most recently to Illinois for Saturday's game.

"I went to the University of Illinois this past weekend," Morrissey said. "And the visit overall went very well."

He added, "The atmosphere and the facilities were awesome. It was a great experience."

Plus, Morrissey got to do several other things that he enjoyed during the trip to Champaign.

"I had a chance to meet a lot of the coaches, visit the campus, and see most of the facilities," Morrissey said. "My favorite part of the visit was watching how their team prepared on game day."

Although Morrissey has taken two recent visits, he is unsure of exactly what games he might make it out for a visit.

"I am still figuring out my schedule, but I would like to make it out to a couple more games," Morrissey said. "As for Illinois, the coaches told me that they are interested and that they will keep in touch.

And as for his junior season at Stevenson High, the 6-foot-3, 180 pound prospect has led Stevenson High to a fast start on the year.

"I think that I've played well," Morrissey said. "I feel a lot more comfortable out there on the field."
