Beard Brings Strong Presence

FOX Sports NEXT is in the streets this fall to bring you all the coverage from across the Midlands region. Recently, we caught up with Seven Lakes offensive lineman Davis Beard from Katy, Texas after a nice Friday night winning performance last weekend…

It's always been said that the game is won in the trenches.

For the guys at a West Houston area program, they wear that statement like a badge of honor. At least that was the sound of things when we spoke with Katy (TX) Seven Lakes offensive lineman Davis Beard after a 56-33 win over district rival Mayde Creek.

"I believe it all starts with the offensive line. We have to go hard every play and don't let up," Beard said. "We believed that we could get this done. We heard some talking before the game, but we wanted our play to do the talking. I felt like I was going to beat my guy every time. And I went out each time to prove that."

Sounds like a man on a mission. And as the 6-foot-4, 270-pound Beard was plowing the path for his backs to run for over 400 yards on the ground, getting the win was his only and primary objective.

Then too, he does want to take his game to the next, hoping to make it on a college roster next fall. So far, Air Force has given him the early nod by extending an offer.

Anyone else?

"An offer from Air Force, that's it, but I have Navy talking to me and TCU and Kansas State," Beard said. "There are a couple others."

Beard said that he will look to make a few games when able, but with a complex school schedule, it makes it tough. But he said he will get out though.
