Dawson feels the love at Florida

Duke Dawson has been high on Florida even since picking up an offer from the Gators in summer camp. The junior defensive back visited Gainesville Saturday for the LSU game. Get the latest on Dawson right here.

Duke Dawson said it was a great day in Gainesville and he was very impressed with the Gators' play.

"It was a great atmosphere, the crowd was loud. It was just great being out there," he said.

"The defense was outstanding, they played really well. They held them to six points, two field goals, (LSU) didn't even get to the endzone."

The Dixie County High School (Cross City, FL) standout was with both his parents and said they had just as much fun at the game.

"They liked it too. They really love the coaches too, because the coaches love for me to come, love seeing my family."

Dawson and his parents got to talk to Florida Head Coach Will Muschamp and Defensive Backs Coach Travaris Robinson Saturday. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete said the bond between his family and the coaches continues to get stronger.

"They really want me to come, they really love me," Dawson said.

"They were talking to me about how I played Friday, how I felt about the game."

Dawson expects to decide between Florida and Florida State sometime after his junior season. He said his visit to Gainesville Saturday didn't really change where either program stands with him.

"Florida is still in the lead a little bit," he said.

He hasn't visited FSU for a game yet but he plans to visit Tallahassee when the Seminoles welcome the Gators in November.
