Sam visits Cajuns

Opelousas junior WR/DB Mandell Sam has been a fixture at home games of the UL Ragin' Cajuns...

Mandell Sam has been present in Lafayette for the Cajuns' consecutive home victories over Florida International and Tulane.

"I liked the way their defense played," Sam said following UL's 48-20 win over FIU. "UL throws the ball with a balanced offense. The coaching staff likes me. They told me I can come to any home game.

"The wide receivers coach likes my film, and they said to make sure I go to the Tulane game for homecoming."

Sam, as mentioned previously, made the short trip south from Opelousas to Lafayette to watch the Cajuns soundly defeat Tulane (41-13 final).

"The visit went good," Sam said of UL/Tulane. "I loved the homecoming atmosphere, and I like the UL coaches' personalities.

"I will be be on their campus for the next home game. This week, I'm considering visiting Arkansas or McNeese. Cincinnati also invited me to their games, and I'm getting interest from Vanderbilt."

Sam had over 100 yards receiving in a recent game on only four catches. He forced overtime vs. Tioga by intercepting a pass in the red zone as time expired in regulation.

The junior also converted on a fake punt by carrying the ball nearly 30 yards.

He camped with the Cajuns and LSU over the summer.
