North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake quarterback Chad Kanoff may not be the biggest name at his position, but the 6-foot-4, 195-pound prospect has continued to put up big numbers throughout the season.

On Friday night, the momentum continued for Kanoff, as he threw for 391 yards and six touchdowns in the Wolverines' 44-11 victory over Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) St. Paul.

"It was a good game," he said of the Mission League opener. "We played well throughout the game. Driving down the field on our opening drive was probably the highlight for me, especially since we hadn't played here since my sophomore year when we lost, and that was my first time I ever started a game. It was good to get things going right away."

Kanoff has thrown for almost 2,000 yards for 26 touchdowns and only two interceptions in six games this season while leading his team to a 5-1 start; his longest pass thus far was an 81-yard throw versus Sylmar (Calif.) in Week 4.

"As a team, we just have to keep doing what we're doing, preparing for our games each week and playing well. Looking forward, we'll continue to work on everything from protections to routes to throwing against man coverage," he said.

The signal-caller ended his recruitment in May, committing to Vanderbilt. Months later, he's solid in his commitment and plans on taking his official visit on January 20th.

He's had a chance to watch the Commodores in action this season, commenting, "they are a good team. They are a fun team to watch in the SEC."

As he reflects back onto his junior season, Kanoff can see a vast improvement in his game.

"I'm just making good decisions. Practicing hard. I think I've improved on my mechanics a lot since my junior season. Last year, I didn't use my legs very much and this year I'm running much more. It's been great," he said.
