In a game that had a rain delay and hail, Notre Dame Prep ran away with a victory on the Cox 7 Thursday game of the week.
The Saints got out to a quick start and never looked back.
Junior Jordan Schlueter returned The Opening kickoff to the 36 yard line and two plays later, he ran in for a score. 7-0 NDP.
Notre Dame then utilized the bruising abilities of Luke Taffuri. The senior ran for three first downs on their next drive and Michael Cole capped off the drive with a short TD run. 14-0.
The teams exchanged INTs and then Parker Zellers recovered a fumble and this turnover led to another score. Nick Duckworth threw a 31 yard TD pass to Bailey Jones to extend the lead to 21-0.
A lightning storm delayed the game an hour but the Saints went right back to work. This time Duckworth found ASU commit TE Grant Martinez on a short TD pass to give NDP a 28-0 lead into halftime.
Two Grayson Naquin field goals put Notre Dame up 34-0.
Cactus Shadows scored with 2:40 left in the game on a Bryce Kinsler TD run.
Notre Dame is fighting for their playoff lives. They now have won two in a row in convincing fashion. Can they make a run like last year? Cactus Shadows had way too many turnovers to be in this game.
Going to give one to Luke Taffuri. Had to be close to 200 yards rushing, not to mention what he did on defense. Speaking of defense, The NDP defense shut down a high scoring Cactus Shadows offense.
