Florida DT getting looks

Rod Stephens is a talented defensive tackle prospect from Hialeah High and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Rodrick Stephens is now playing at Hialeah High and talked about his senior season.

"It's going good," Stephens said. "We're 3-3 and I'm playing great. I have about six sacks and 20 tackles."

Stephens, 6-foot-2 and 290 pounds, hasn't received any Division 1 scholarship offers yet but he's getting some looks.

"Lately my coaches have told me UM and Illinois have been asking about me," he said. "I'm not sure which ones I like most. I'm still thinking."

Stephens talked more about his interest in those two programs.

"I don't know that much about Illinois but I know they're a program on the rise," he said. "UM, I like them a lot. I grew up watching them and my family members are big fans as well."

Whether it's one of those two schools or anyone else, Stephens knows it'll be a tough choice one day. He talked about what he'll be looking for.

"The main thing I am going to be looking for when making a decision is does the program remind me of home, early playing time and how is the coaching because I want a good relationship with my position coach."
