Sam talks about Arkansas trip

2014 WR/DB Mandell Sam from Opelousas (LA) talks about his weekend visit to Arkansas.

Mandell Sam enjoyed himself while in Fayetteville to watch the Razorbacks crush Kentucky, 49-7.

"It went pretty good," he said. "The coaches already knew who I was; a lot of them came and introduced themselves to me.

"Coach Caldwell knew I was coming. He had heard a lot about me. He's going to be coming down to south Louisiana to watch Deondre Skinner, the commit from Patterson, and he's planning on coming through Opelousas."

What were the highlights of the visit?

"I liked the weight room and the Miller Room, which is the players' lounge," Sam said. "The weight room is really big. The Miller Room is so fancy with framed jerseys of the Arkansas players that have been in the NFL.

"I liked the way the coaches introduced themselves to us. I also liked how they have a balanced offense. I would strongly consider Arkansas if they offer. They were big and fast at every position, and the atmosphere was great. The fans were really fired up."

Sam recorded a season-high in his last outing with eight catches for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He seems to be a natural at the safety position, as well.
