Egu Focusing On Five

The Concord (Calif.) De La Salle linebacker, Victor Egu, has five schools he's focused on...

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle linebacker Victor Egu is hoping to take a couple of visits before his season ends, and the rest of the visits will likely take place in January.

Playing at De La Salle, where playing well into December isn't just an expectation, but a way of life, Egu knows he's limited in when he can take his trips.

With the Spartans the top-ranked team in California, and expected to make another trip to the CIF State Championships, Egu is trying to determine which schools he can trip to before Christmas, and which ones will get the visits in January.

But Egu knows which ones are the primary schools of interest.

"The main ones right now are Oregon, Cal, Washington, Boise State and Notre Dame," said Egu. "I don't have a favorite yet, but I'm seeing which one fits me the best."

Egu said the hardest part is deciding which one's he'll visit first.

"I'm looking to take maybe one or two officials before the season ends and then the rest will be after the season. I won't make my decision until after the season."

Egu, who's brother is a walk-on at Washington, said he's focusing on the coaching in college as a big factor in his decision.

"I want to play for a school and a coaching staff that will help me grow as a player," said Egu.

Egu and the Spartans are 7-0 and will play Danville (Calif.) Monte Vista this Friday.
